Relfective Post: Fahrenheit 451, Part Three (Burning Bright)
The second part of the book ended with the firemen arriving at their new destination, Montag's house. I was very very shocked when I read this and even more surprised that it had been Mildred, Montag's wife who had set the alarm. Montag kills Beatty (his captain) and runs away to the countryside so he wouldn't get caught. Other things happen after this (not giving away the story!) The third part of the book is the most dramatic and poetic and is full of figurative language! Ray Bradbury is an amazing and talented author. He is so creative and you can never know what would happen next in the plot. I loved all the characters and their interesting yet understandably personality, character and thoughts. I also very much enjoyed how Mr. Bradbury used this story to remind us just how important books are! :)
Reflective Post: Fahrenheit 451, Part Two ( The Sieve and the Sand)
I absolutely loved the second part of the book. It was where (for me) the story really started to begin and get exciting. I think the turning point was when we knew that Montag (the main character, a fireman whose job is to burn books along with the house) had been stealing books for a long time and when he decides to read them and go to Faber for help. My favorite scene was the conversation between Montag and his wife, Mildred and the three ladies. From that scene we could tell how ignorant and empty the ladies were but the surprise (and my favorite part) was when one of the ladies, Mrs. Phelps, burst into tears after Montag finished reading the poem "Dover Beach” by Matthew Arnold. That particular scene also showed us more of why the people stopped reading themselves as another lady, Mrs. Bowles, declared that the cause of Mrs. Phelps emotional meltdown was the evil, emotional messiness of poetry...
